A Direct Message from Aaron!

Well where to start? The last 6 months has been absolutely crazy health wise for first my mother and then me. My mother was diagnosed with “Transitional cell carcinoma”, a rare type of kidney cancer in October 2007. The doctors found a large tumor that had been growing in her kidney and now has moving into her lymph notes. The doctor removed the entire kidney, and my mother is now able to fight off the cancer through chemo treatments. She started a blog when she first was diagnosed if you would like to go and read about it you can go to www.GodLovesCandy.com, feel free to post a hello, we would love that.

So far as my health goes, I always had a bit of a high blood pressure issue growing up, so while my mother was going through her issues, she begged me to go get checked out just to see if my blood pressure was still high and if I had any other health issues. Well the doctors placed me on blood pressure medicine, but they where not sure based on my age, weight and being active, why I would have high blood pressure. The doctor advised me that sometimes if your kidneys have issues, you could have high blood pressure as a result, so based on my mother having an issue, he felt that it would be good to get MRI, CT Scan and Ultrasound. Well surprisingly enough the tests later reveled a larger growth in MY KIDNEY AS WELL!!! We where all so shocked! So on April 8th I was admitted in to the hospital for surgery to remove my kidney.

Thank GOD the surgery was a success and I was released from the hospital on April 11th. What a way to spend a birthday, but in the hospital! I did receive the best news on my birthday, that one could ever ask for and that is the doctors concluded that the tumor was cancer, but they were able to remove all of it from my body and the cancer never had a chance to spread to lymph nodes or other origins, so I am cancer free! The doctors also concluded that unlike my mother’s case, I will not need any chemo; they will just need to do future CT Scans to insure that the cancer never comes back…

So that’s my story of the recent happening in my life. It’s truly brought me closer to my “faith” and it really makes you realize that we are not all invincible. It also made me realize the power of prayer.

Sincerely,

Aaron
