Well, it’s been over a month since I’ve written in my blog. That is because I have not stopped living life and loving every moment!
I have been doing a lot of reflecting and let’s face it, just plain enjoying life “after chemo”.
It has been an emotional ride since my brother was diagnosed back in 2004 with cancer and given three months to live – that is when I truly thanked God every day and I mean every day I thanked him for my health. My brother exceeded their expectations and lived for almost one year. It was a hard year as my mother was declining in her own health and memory. He died, September 2004. She went into a nursing home and died August 2007. I was diagnosed with cancer in October 2007. My son Aaron was diagnosed with cancer in March 2008.
So when people ask if I look at life differently. I can honestly say no, I still appreciate every day that God gives me and for the life and family that He has blessed me with. What I do understand more fully today, is how God has a plan for me while I am here. In other words, He’s not done with me yet!
Aaron is back to work and doing wonderfully. He looks and feels like he’s never had surgery. He continues to enjoy life with his girlfriend Suzanne. He’s recently decided to take up kite surfing. Oh to be young!
Please continue to pray as I meet with my oncologist next week for more blood work. We will also discuss at that time when I will have another scan done to make sure that the cancer has not found another home in my body. I will more than likely be having a scan every few months for a while in order to make sure that I am clear. This is a great precaution and one that is customary after chemo.
In the meantime Leo and I have planned a vacation to the islands and we will be heading there in a few weeks.
Isaiah 58:8 (Contemporary English Version)
Then your light will shine like the dawning sun, and you will quickly be healed. Your honesty will protect you as you advance, and the glory of the Lord will defend you from behind.
Thank you for the continued prayer. I promise that I will update again after our vacation.
Love to all,
Candy
